From Surplus to Schoolbags: How BPMA Members Are Powering Pepala’s Mission

At Pepala, we believe that every child deserves the dignity of learning with the right tools—regardless of geography, circumstance, or income. That belief fuels our mission: to repurpose surplus and obsolete stock from UK businesses and transform it into educational lifelines for schoolchildren in Malawi.

Thanks to our partnership with the British Promotional Merchandise Association (BPMA), that mission is gaining powerful momentum.

🤝 A Partnership Rooted in Purpose

BPMA’s support has opened doors to a network of businesses that care deeply about sustainability, social impact, and responsible giving. Through their platform, Pepala is connecting with members who are eager to donate stationery, backpacks, sports equipment, and other promotional items that would otherwise go unused.

These donations aren’t just practical—they’re transformative. A branded notepad becomes a child’s first writing tool. A drawstring bag becomes a source of pride. A pen becomes a step toward literacy.

📦 What We Do with Your Donations

All donated items are sorted and packed, where volunteers carefully categorize resources to match the needs of schools in Malawi. From there, shipments are sent directly to communities where access to basic educational supplies is limited or nonexistent.

🌍 Why It Matters

In Malawi, many children attend school without a single pen or notebook. Teachers improvise with limited resources, and students often share materials or go without. By repurposing surplus stock, Pepala not only reduces waste but also empowers children to learn with confidence.

This isn’t just about giving—it’s about restoring pride, nurturing potential, and building bridges between UK businesses and global communities.

💬 How You Can Help

If you're a BPMA member with surplus stock—whether it’s pens, notepads, bags, or other school-friendly items—we’d love to hear from you. Every box donated becomes part of a larger story: one of sustainability, compassion, and educational equity.
