Two Libraries, Thousands of Books, Endless Possibility: Pepala’s First Chapter in Malawi
In just ten months since launching Pepala, we’ve reached a milestone that fills us with pride, gratitude, and hope: the creation of two brand-new libraries in Kwiputi and Nsanga state primary schools in Malawi.
These are not just rooms filled with books. They are spaces of possibility.
For children who’ve never had access to a library before, shelves lined with stories, facts, and imagination are transformative. They offer quiet corners to dream, tools to learn, and windows into worlds beyond their own.
From UK Surplus to Malawian Shelves
The books that now fill these libraries were destined for landfill in the UK—gorgeous, new and gently used titles that still had so much to give. Thanks to our growing network of partners and donors, they’ve found new life in the hands of eager young readers.
To every school, library, company, and individual who has sent us surplus books and stationery: thank you. You’ve helped start a movement.
What’s Next?
Thousands more books are on their way. We’re expanding our partnerships, refining our logistics, and dreaming bigger.
If your organisation has surplus educational resources—books, stationery, sports equipment, bags—we’d love to hear from you. Every item diverted from landfill is a step toward equity, sustainability, and impact.
This is just the beginning.
